Allergan’s Skinvive Gets FDA Approval for Additional Use

Now cleared to reduce neck lines in adults over 21

Allergan Aesthetics, the Irvine-based aesthetics unit of Chicago biopharmaceutical giant AbbVie Inc., today announced FDA approval of Skinvive to reduce neck lines for the improvement of neck appearance.

With the approval, Skinvive is now the first and only hyaluronic acid injectable approved to reduce horizontal neck lines caused by prolonged periods of looking down at phones, tablets or laptops, known as “tech neck,” according to Allergan.

“This approval expands our portfolio of lower face and neck treatment options and gives patients and aesthetic providers a first-of-its-kind treatment option for improving neck skin quality and reducing the appearance of neck lines,” Darin Messina, senior vice president of aesthetics and R&D at AbbVie, said in a statement.

This is the product’s second FDA approval after first getting approval to improve skin smoothness of the cheeks in adults in 2023.
