AccentCare Inc., an Irvine home healthcare company, said Thursday that it was buying a Tennessee-based home health provider for an undisclosed price.
AccentCare, which operates in California and six other states, acquired Guardian Home Care Holdings Inc. of Brentwood, Tenn.
Guardian serves more than 12,000 patients in Tennessee, Georgia and Texas. Besides home health care, Guardian also provides hospice services.
The combined company will retain the AccentCare name and be based in Irvine under Chief Executive William “Biff” Comte’s leadership. It will serve some 30,000 patients in 10 states.
AccentCare, which has some $200 million in sales, is now primarily owned by Stamford, Conn.-based Oak Hill Capital Partners, a private equity firm with more than $7 billion under management.
Oak Hill bought out AccentCare’s previous financial backers earlier this year.
AccentCare has shifted how it does business over the years.
Early on, AccentCare was primarily involved with non-medical services, but by 2009, skilled nursing made up about half of its business, Comte said in an earlier interview.
