Yogurtland Reworks Digital Rewards Program

Yogurtland Franchising Inc. is the latest to reveal a refreshed app and rewards program.

Companies are increasingly turning to digital to better understand their individual customer base and learn how to better target ads and promotions in an aim to increase repeat purchases.

The Irvine-based frozen yogurt chain of more than 250 locations said its new and improved Real Rewards program allows users to earn two points for every $1 spent.

Once they’ve spent $50, they’ll get $5 back.

The company’s refreshed app boasts in-app ordering for delivery or in-store pick-up, a record of transaction history, the ability to add gift card balances, and a points tracker.

Senior Marketing Manager Brittany Knollmiller noted the improvement makes Yogurtland “more accessible and relevant.”

A spokesperson for the brand declined to say how many rewards members or app downloads it has currently. The Android version has seen more than 100,000 installs, according to Google Play.

App and reward refreshes have been popular as restaurant chains are looking to personalize the customer experience, whether that be through customized promotions or expediting checkout with saved favorites among other features. El Pollo Loco Inc. (Nasdaq: LOCO) of Costa Mesa launched its Loco Rewards in September, simplifying the point-earning process. Lake Forest-based Del Taco Restaurants Inc. (Nasdaq: TACO) is set to launch a new customer retention management system later this year, and Mountain Mike’s Pizza LLC is also set to roll out a new app and loyalty program.
