BJ's Restaurant reimagined its deep dish pizza this year
The newest chief executive at BJ’s Restaurants Inc., Lyle Tick, plans to push the Huntington Beach-based full service chain towards growth again, starting with its menu.
Tick and the culinary team reviewed BJ’s signature menu item, the deep dish pizza, and updated the recipe featuring a new kind of dough, cheese and toppings. The updates launched in restaurants in November.
“This relaunch is about honoring the artisanal legacy that built BJ’s reputation while taking it to the next level,” Tick said in a statement.

The reconstructed deep dish pizza includes whole milk mozzarella, fresh-pack tomato sauce, sausage roasted in-house and a new kind of pepperoni on top of a new style of dough.
Lyle Tick was initially hired as chief concept officer at BJ’s Restaurants Inc. (Nasdaq: BJRI) in late 2024. In June, Tick was promoted to chief executive at BJ’s less than a year after he first joined the company.
