Miguel’s Restaurants opened a new 3,200-square-foot restaurant in Santa Ana on Tuesday, its first opening since 2020.

The Corona-based Mexican restaurant chain now counts five locations in Orange County and plans to continue growing in local markets for now, focusing on new technology and drive-thru models.

“We’re planning on reaching all of California and then moving out of the state in the next five years,” Chief Executive Javier Vasquez told the Business Journal.

Vasquez aims to double Miguel’s location count in the next five years as well. The chain currently has 22 quick service restaurants, known as Miguel’s Jr., and one full-service location.

Miguel’s Restaurants reports average sales of around $2.3 million per store. The company was nominated for the Business Journal’s Family-Owned Business awards this year.
