Newport Beach-based Mountain Mike’s Pizza LLC reported first quarter total system sales increased 14% from a year ago. The pizza chain’s same store sales increased 7% and first quarter average unit volume (AUV) hit $1.1 million systemwide.
“AUVs systemwide have now grown nearly 40% over the past 4 years which for a 44-year-old brand is quite an achievement,” Co-Chief Executives Chris Britt and Ed St. Geme said in a statement.
Digital sales continued to grow 14% in the first quarter while dine-in sales tripled. The pizzeria’s mobile app increased its user base by 13%.
Mountain Mike’s is in the middle of opening restaurants in eight states for 2022, with its first location in Idaho and two new restaurants debuting in Arizona during the first quarter. The brand is set to expand to Colorado and Texas for the first time this year with the goal to open 30 new restaurants in total by year’s end.
The pizzeria currently counts 255 units, and signed franchise agreements for 11 new locations in the first quarter. President Jim Metevier reported “increasing interest from potential franchise partners” regarding the brand’s goal of at least 400 locations by 2025.
