Newport Beach-based Mountain Mike’s Pizza LLC said it has signed more than 12 new deals this year and has over 70 franchise agreements in process.
The pizzeria chain, which entered Texas last year, signed its third multi-unit agreement in the Lone Star state while reporting an increase in multi-unit development, the company said in a statement. Other new markets include Idaho, Arizona, and Nevada.
Mountain Mike’s also opened its 250th restaurant in the second quarter ended June and currently counts 255 units. Ten new stores opened in total for the first half of 2022.
The chain’s systemwide average unit volume (AUV) has grown to $1.1 million this year and reports an average of $1.6 million in sales for the top 25% of locations.
Following the restaurant’s partnership with the Los Angeles Angels in April, Mountain Mike’s started the ‘Shutout Challenge’ in July offering rewards mobile app members a free mini pizza the following day. The brand’s digital sales are now 41% of total system sales as of July.
“The many guest-friendly initiatives created in the first half of 2022… illustrate our commitment to cementing the brand as a leader in the pizza industry,” President and COO Jim Metevier said in a statement.
