Juice It Up Reports Q1 Growth

Newport Beach-based Juice It Up announced first quarter same store sales increased 7% year over year, as total sales rose 12% compared to 2021. The 27-year-old brand also saw growth in its Specialty Smoothie and Bowl categories, up 42% and 28% in the first quarter, respectively.

After introducing three new menu items last quarter, the Greentox Smoothie debuted as Juice It Up’s top performer accounting for almost 44% of category sales for the quarter.

Juice It Up currently has over 30 new locations ready for development, lending to its goal of doubling its unit count to 200 locations over the next four years. The smoothie chain signed 11 franchise agreements last year which included 20+ new locations and expects to open 13 franchised stores on the West Coast in 2022.

“[CEO Susan Taylor] and the team tell us the best is yet to come, so given the results since 2019 we can hardly wait to see what the next five years will bring,” co-chairman Ed St. Geme said in a statement.

St. Geme and Chris Britt are the principal owners of the brand, and also own Mountain Mike’s Pizza in Newport Beach, which ranks No. 10 among OC-based restaurant chains by sales.

Juice It Up reported a record year of $41 million in sales for 2021. With 83 units companywide, the chain continues to update existing stores to its recent remodeled store design which debuted at its flagship location in Costa Mesa in 2020.
