GEN Restaurant Group to Enter BevMo, Stater Bros.

Grows closer to goal of 1,500 to 2,000 U.S. retail locations by the end of 2026

After expanding its retail line of Korean food products to 22 items in April, GEN Restaurant Group is entering all BevMo stores and Stater Bros. Markets as of May.

The Cerritos-based parent company of the GEN Korean BBQ restaurant chain said it is pausing restaurant expansion to focus on placing its new consumer products in 1,500 to 2,000 U.S. locations by the end of 2026.

It originally launched four ready-to-cook Korean meats at Pavilions last fall and recently added snacks, sauces and beverages to the line-up. Since last year, GEN has launched its retail products in over 1,000 stores.

“This expansion into BevMo stores marks an important step toward achieving our growth goals,” Chairman and Chief Executive David Kim said in a May 4 statement.

“This launch represents a growing shift in consumer demand,” Kim added on May 5. “Korean BBQ is no longer niche—it has become a staple nationwide.”
