Corinthian Colleges Inc. is telling students at campuses slated to close they can finish their degrees.
The Santa Ana-based for profit school operator has begun informing 3,400 students at the 12 sites in 11 states that they will be able to complete their programs.
Students who withdraw may be eligible for a full refund.
Corinthian recently announced an agreement with the U.S. Department of Education to begin to wind down operations by selling schools and programs or closing campuses.
Last month the department moved to delay financial aid funds to the company based on investigations of Corinthian advertising practices and job placement claims.
The delays precipitated the deal to shut down. The process began last week and is expected to take at least six months.
Corinthian has about 72,000 students at more than 100 sites in the United States and Canada.
None of the 12 sites slated for closure are in California.
