Corinthian Campuses Close in Canada

All of Corinthian Colleges Inc.’s 14 locations in Canada have been shuttered by regulators there, news reports said.

The Santa Ana-based for-profit schools company had operated its Everest College subsidiary there.

Canadian officials said they would work with students to get refunds and help them transfer to other schools.

Corinthian is closing down as part of an agreement last summer with the U.S. Dept. of Education. At the time, it had about 107 campuses in the U.S. and Canada.

It agreed to sell half of those in November to Zenith Education Group in Oakdale, Minn. Ten campuses in California stopped getting Cal Grant aid last week after Corinthian failed to file financial disclosures with the state. Its shares were delisted from Nasdaq Tuesday after it didn’t file recent quarterly and annual reports.

Corinthian had at the time a market cap of about $2 million.
