Allied Expands in Chicago with Acquisition

Allied Universal, the largest security guard firm in North America, has acquired Phoenix Systems & Service Inc. to expand into Chicago. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Phoenix Systems, which has 35 employees and annual revenue topping $16 million, is known for installing turnkey security systems including access control, digital video, optical turnstiles and intercoms. Its customer base includes several global entities and Fortune 500 companies.

“The acquisition of Phoenix Systems & Service will help us expand our technology services business in Illinois and nationally,” Allied Universal Chief Executive Steve Jones said in a statement. “Phoenix Systems has a strong history of more than 28 years delivering top-notch service within multiple vertical markets, especially commercial real estate.”

Santa Ana-based Allied Universal has 235,000 employees and annual sales topping $8.5 billion. It’s responsible for protecting more than 50,000 client sites in sectors such as higher education, healthcare and commercial real estate.
