Hospitality Shows Go To OC Operator

Emerald Expositions Events Inc. (NYSE: EEX) bought several hospitality-focused trade shows, publications, and events from ST Media Group International and Hospitality Media Group on undisclosed terms.

Emerald is a B2B trade show, event, and conference producer. It’s buying Boutique Design New York, a New York trade show and conference for 8,000 boutique hospitality professionals—interior designers, architects, hotel owners, and others —as well as BDwest, a West Coast sister show to BDNY; and HX: The Hotel Experience trade show, also in New York.

The purchase also includes three events—Hospitality Match, Senior Lifestyle Design, Forum Series—and a magazine, Boutique Design, which supports the BDNY show.

Some ST Media and HMG will join Emerald and report to Joe Randall, executive vice president. Emerald is led by Chief Executive David Loechner.

With this acquisition Emerald Expositions has spent about $70 million this year to buy trade shows and events.

It went public in April 2017; Majority owner Onex Corp. in March cut its stake in the company to about 65%.

Emerald trades at a $1.1 billion market cap. It plans to report quarterly results Nov. 1, before the market opens.
