Irvine-based Banc of California named J. Francisco Turner co-principal financial officer, effective immediately. He will work alongside outgoing Chief Financial Officer James McKinney for the next 60 days.
The bank said it’s “consolidating” finance operations under Turner and Chief Investment Officer Brian Kuelbs.
McKinney resigned Monday to move to Chicago for personal reasons and family needs, the bank said, and news reports said McKinney was hired by Kemper Corp., a Chicago-based insurer, as its CFO.
His resignation is effective on or before Nov. 18, but he will help the bank file its annual report, which is due within 90 days following Dec. 31.
McKinney has been with the bank for about 14 months, which includes three months as chief accounting officer prior to his promotion to CFO in November.
Turner was chief strategy officer prior to the promotion and worked on the bank’s financial planning, budgeting, and investor relations.
Kuelbs will retain responsibility for the bank’s capital strategy and balance sheet management while working with Turner.
Banc of California is the largest Orange County-based bank, with $11 billion in assets. It employs about 1,800.
