Irvine-based WaterHealth International Inc. raised $10 million in venture funding from a private equity firm in New York that targets infrastructure projects in developing nations.
Vital Capital joins an established list of previous backers that includes Irvine-based Sail Capital Partners, the Dow Chemical Co. and Tata Capital, among others.
WHI has raised about $25 million to fund its efforts to build hundreds of water purification and disinfection systems in developing countries around the world.
The company has developed more than 500 systems in Sub-Saharan Africa and India that provide access to clean drinking water to more than 5 million people.
Vital Capital, which manages a $350 million private equity fund, has targeted Sub-Saharan Africa for investment, as well as education and healthcare initiatives.
