Concordia Names Education Dean

Concordia University in Irvine named Kent Schlichtemeier dean of its school of education, effective July 1, to replace Deborah Mercier, who is retiring.

Schlichtemeier has been assistant dean since 2016 and prior to that a teacher and assistant principal at Lutheran High School in Orange. His bachelor’s degree is from Concordia Teachers College in Nebraska; his master’s from Denver University in Colorado; and his Ed.D. is from UCLA.

Concordia has about 4,000 students; the school of education has some 1,400 of that total, and offers bachelors, master’s, doctoral, and credential programs in Irvine, online, and at other locations in the state.
