Chapman University of Orange announced a $5 million gift from the Swenson Family Foundation today.
Funds will support innovation and research at the Swenson Family Hall of Engineering, which will open as part of the Dale E. and Sarah Fowler School of Engineering Wing in 2021.
Chapman’s Schmid College of Science and Technology began enrolling students in 2018. About two-thirds of the 140,000-square-foot facility, called the Keck Center for Science and Engineering, is currently built out.
Jim Swenson, who passed away in 2018, launched Details Inc., an Anaheim-based printed circuit shop that amassed a list of clients including IBM, Apple and Motorola before its private sale in 1997.
The Swenson Family Foundation, based in Dana Point, is led by Jim’s wife, Susan, and their daughter, Cheryl Lentz.
