Ramin Mousavi, chief executive of Newport Beach-based CathWorks, has been appointed board chair of Norway-based medical device company CardioMech AS.
CardioMech is developing a catheter-based repair system for degenerative mitral regurgitation (DMR), a condition where the valve does not close properly, causing blood to leak back into the left atrium.
“CardioMech AS is tackling one of the most significant unmet needs in structural heart disease with a potentially disruptive, highly differentiated technology,” Mousavi said in a LinkedIn statement.
In April, Newport Beach-based CathWorks was acquired by Medtronic for $585 million four years after entering a co-promotion agreement that gave Medtronic the option to acquire CathWorks.
