Irvine electric vehicle maker Rivian Automotive Inc. has reportedly pushed production of its R1T truck to September amid global supply chain issues.
News of the delay was first reported by Bloomberg, which cited a letter from CEO R.J. Scaringe to customers warning of the delay.
“The cascading impacts of the pandemic have had a compounding effect greater than anyone anticipated,” Bloomberg reported Scaringe wrote in his letter.
Rivian’s R1S SUV, originally set for production in August, has also been delayed to a time unknown.
Rivian’s truck and SUV are its debut models to the consumer market. It also has a deal with Amazon to build the e-commerce giant 100,000 electric delivery vans.
