Hyundai Motor America in Fountain Valley reported selling 59,380 units in March, off 21% compared to a year ago, but up 13% from February.
The automaker’s retail sales of 159,676 units for the first quarter of 2022 were up 1.4% compared to 2021, and broke last year’s record quarterly sales.
“We outperformed the industry in Q1 and substantially increased our retail market share,” senior VP of national sales Randy Parker said in a statement.
The automaker reported a 241% increase in electrified vehicle retail sales for the quarter.
The Hyundai Nexo SUV jumped 277% in total sales for March as one of the automaker’s models to set monthly retail and total sales records.
