Local automakers capped a strong February with sales growth.
Fountain Valley-based Hyundai Motor America Inc. sold 53,013 vehicles, up 16% from a year ago.
Kia Motors America Inc. ended the month with sales up 20% to 52,177 vehicles. Growth for the Irvine automaker was led by the Forte compact and Sportage CUV.
Irvine-based Mazda North American Operations notched a 19% gain in sales to 28,385 vehicles, driven by the CX-9 crossover.
Fountain Valley luxury automaker Genesis Motor America sold 1,587 vehicles in February, up 4%. The company also reported last month more than 6,000 pre-orders for its GV80, the first sport utility vehicle in the Genesis lineup, expected to go on sale this summer.
