Mahboob Akhter was named to Orange County United Way’s Board of Directors with his recent election to a three-year term that will continue through June 2026. Akhter is currently the President and CEO of Ascend Tools, Inc., a young start-up specializing in the supply of technology-driven hand tools for industrial, aviation, composite, and electrical markets.
Through 24 years as a core team member at a diverse number of technology start-up companies, Akhter has provided corporate direction, executed marketing and sales strategies, acquired high profile customers, and built offshore development teams. He is renowned in his field as an operations and marketing leader who can develop a company from a product concept and build a profitable high-growth business.
In addition to his business accolades, Akhter has a demonstrated passion and willingness to serve the greater good having been a member of several charitable boards, including 2-1-1 Orange County and the Safi Qureshey Foundation, as well as the immediate past Chair of the Saddleback College Foundation.
