AO, a leading full-service architecture firm with design expertise spanning the full commercial real estate spectrum, is excited to announce the appointment of Rafael Alvarez as the Director of Design Technology. In this new role, Alvarez is responsible for supporting workflow analysis and optimization, implementing emerging visualization technologies, and managing company-wide software systems. He is a proven leader and early adopter in the field of Digital Design within the AEC industry. He is recognized for inspiring large and small organizations to transform their businesses by implementing new technologies and workflows to ensure each person on the team has the best tools for their job. Alvarez is a strategic planner with deep knowledge in computational design, building information modeling, and virtual design and construction. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Syracuse University, where he participated in a study Abroad Program in Florence, Italy. Additionally, he is a registered Architect in California and licensed in New York, a certified LEED AP BD+C, and Autodesk Revit Certified Professional. With 20+ years of project experience ranging from large-scale commercial interiors to small-scale residential work, he provides a keen understanding of the design and construction business.
