On the Move: Orange County United Way Names Chief Philanthropy Officer

Christine Sanchez Dittmer is a development professional with more than 30 years of experience with national nonprofit health organizations. In her new role at Orange County United Way, she will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to advance philanthropy, lead a major gifts program, build lasting, sustainable major donor relationships, implement a planned giving program, and identify opportunities for philanthropic partnerships that will support the long term needs of the Orange County community.

She most recently served as Chief Development Officer at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute in La Jolla where she spearheaded efforts to raise philanthropic dollars to support the institute’s mission of bringing research closer to treatments and cures for patients.

For most of her career, Dittmer held positions with the American Heart Association (AHA) ranging from the Senior Vice President of Philanthropy to the Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations. While at the AHA, she served as national Chair of the Individual Giving Task Force and led the creation of a major gift’s roadmap for the organization.

Dittmer holds Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Communications and American Studies from California State University, Fullerton.
