The Orange County Power Authority (OCPA) has announced the hiring of Louis Ting as its Director of Power Resources. OCPA is a not-for-profit public agency that offers clean power at competitive rates, serving more than 175,000 residential and commercial customers in Buena Park, Fullerton and Irvine. Ting will serve as a high-level technical advisor on energy projects and contracts, managing complex short- and long-term energy resource planning and procurement. His role aims to enhance the sustainability and reliability of OCPA’s renewable energy portfolio to better serve Orange County.

Ting brings more than three decades of experience to OCPA from Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), the nation’s largest municipal utility. At LADWP, Ting spearheaded projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution, modernizing the grid and implementing clean electrification powered units. He also oversaw the transition of a coal-to-natural gas project with green hydrogen-powered combined-cycle units. Ting’s role at OCPA will be vital to guiding OCPA’s procurement success as the county transitions to a clean energy future.

Ting holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA.Â
