ROOFING & WATERPROOFING

Fernando Torres, a longtime employee at Antis Roofing & Waterproofing who began his career in the roofing industry as a technician, was recently promoted to Director of Operations: Estimating, Field Training, Safety, and Project Administration.

Torres used his time on the job carefully honing and adding to his skills. After proving his dedication and performance as a roofer when joining Antis in 2014, Torres was soon promoted to Scheduling Coordinator. His skill at matching contracts with the most suitable crew resulted in higher efficiencies and better outcomes. He also began lending assistance to the Estimating Department, thanks to his many years executing all kinds of jobs that were challenging to quote. A year later, he was then promoted to Estimator, followed by Estimating Manager and now Director of Operations.

The Estimating Department, crucial to the success of a roofing business, now runs “like a well-oiled machine” thanks in large part to Torres’ careful management. He attributes his success to hiring and promoting the right people, as well as improving efficiencies both large and small.

Torres enjoys giving back by mentoring young people thinking about a vocation in the roofing industry. “I became a roofer out of necessity but ended up developing a huge passion for the industry,” he says. He has attended career days at Samueli Academy in Santa Ana and La Granada Elementary School in Riverside, where he presents his various roles in the roofing industry to interested students.

“By sharing my story, I hope to inspire those who believe they can achieve great success on alternative educational paths,” Torres says.
