Pacific Symphony Elects New Chairman

Arthur Ong takes over for two-year term

Pacific Symphony’s board of directors have selected Arthur Ong as the orchestra’s newest Chairman of the Board.

Ong started his two-year term on January 1, succeeding John R. Evans who served as chairman since 2020. He was previously the symphony board’s executive vice chair and has three decades of legal and business experience with firms such as Newport Beach-based Pacific Investment Management Company, or PIMCO.

“In a relatively short period of time, the Symphony has emerged as a major professional ensemble with an international reputation,” Ong said in a statement. “It is also one of Orange County’s most important cultural institutions.”

The search for a new music director continues as well since Carl St. Clair announced his plans to retire in the next few years last September.
