Fountain Valley-based MemorialCare Health System said today that it has entered into a joint venture with Fresenius Medical Care North America to operate 15 kidney dialysis clinics in Orange and Los Angeles counties.
Thirteen of the clinics are already operating, and two more locations in Huntington Beach and San Juan Capistrano are under development, MemorialCare said.
Fresenius Medical Care North America is based in Waltham, Mass., and is a unit of Bad Homburg, Germany-based Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. KGaA. It cares for more than 170,000 people with end-stage kidney disease at over 2,200 dialysis clinics in the U.S.
MemorialCare owns Orange Coast Medical Center in Fountain Valley and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, with campuses in Laguna Hills and San Clemente. It also operates ambulatory surgery centers, imaging facilities and urgent care clinics, among others.
