The Irvine Company is expected to tap former Maguire Properties Inc. co-chief executive and president Richard Gilchrist as the new head of its office division, according to sources.
Irvine Co. officials would not confirm the appointment, though they said that Gilchrist is currently working for the county’s largest office landlord as a consultant, according to Jennifer Hieger, senior director of media relations for the Newport Beach-based company.
Gilchrist previously served as president and co-chief executive officer of Los Angeles-based real estate investment trust Maguire Properties.
He resigned from that position effective Jan. 1, and was to serve as an adviser to Maguire for a six-month period, ending June 1, according to a company statement.
At the Irvine Co., Gilchrist is expected to replace William “Bill” Halford, who left the company earlier this year.
Halford has subsequently taken over the top spot at Newport Beach-based industrial developer Bixby Land Co. Before taking the Bixby job, Halford had been rumored to be Gilchrist’s replacement at Maguire.
In addition to its office holdings in Orange County, the Irvine Co. has been actively growing its office portfolio in both San Diego and Los Angeles.
