Santa Ana-based AlignMed Inc. said today that it appointed Robert Meers as its chief executive.
Meers succeeds company founder Bill Schultz in the position.
AlignMed, founded in 2005, makes apparel used by amateur and professional athletes—including Los Angeles Laker star Dwight Howard—as well as sports team managers and trainers, orthopedists, physical therapist and in corporate wellness programs.
The company touts its garments as aids in correcting and shaping the body’s alignment and balance.
Meers was previously chief executive of Lululemon Athletica Inc., a Vancouver-based maker of yoga and sportswear for women. He also spent 15 years with Reebok International Limited, where he established the Greg Norman and Rockport brands.
The University of Massachusetts at Amherst graduate also was a tight end with the National Football League’s Minnesota Vikings.
