The Nasdaq was down 0.72% to 2,916 in midday trading Thursday, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average was off 0.40% to 12,881.

The S&P 500 fell 0.51% to 1,387.

The yield on a 10-year treasury bond rose 3% to 1.68%.

The price of gold was up 0.48% to $1,727 per ounce.

Shares of Huntington Beach-based restaurant operator BJ’s Restaurants Inc. were off about 3% to $33 for a market value of $929 million. Restaurant operators were generally down on Thursday.

Mission Viejo-based nursing home operator Ensign Group Inc. was down about 3% to $28, a day after reporting third-quarter results that beat expectations on profit and missed on revenue. Ensign Group had a recent market value of $592 million.
