The yield on a 10-year treasury bond rose 3.05% to 1.69%.
The price of gold was up 0.26% to $1,617.30.
Irvine-based medical device maker Endologix Inc. was up 6.1% to $13.33 on an analyst upgrade. Endologix had a recent market value of $822 million.
Shares of Irvine-based Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide Inc. were down 10.3% to $0.84 after reporting declining revenue during the second quarter. Quantum, which makes alternative-fuel vehicle parts, has a market value of about $40 million.
Santa Ana-based wireless networking gear maker Powerwave Technologies Inc. shares were up 11.86% to $0.48. Powerwave has a market value of about $16 million.
Tustin-based drug developer Peregrine Pharmaceuticals Inc. shares rose 18.95% to $2.26 to a market value of about $239 million.
