The Orange County Board of Supervisors said Tuesday that cloth face coverings will be mandatory for all workers in contact with the public.
The directive, passed at a special meeting, goes into effect Friday.
The rule applies to grocery and convenience stores, pharmacies, gas stations, restaurants, food prep outlets and retailers.
Vice Chairman and First District Supervisor Andrew Do proposed the rule earlier this month as face coverings were recommended by OC health officials.
