New Execs for Buy.com

Aliso Viejo-based e-commerce company Buy.com is changing its executive lineup, according to its owner, Rakuten Inc.

Tokyo-based Rakuten announced Chief Executive Neel Grover and Chief Operating Officer Greg Giraudi will leave their positions on Sept. 1.

Grover will remain on the Buy.com board and will become a member of the Rakuten USA board, according to the company.

Roger Andelin, a former chief information officer who left the company in 2008, will return to Buy.com as president and chief technology officer.

Bernard Luthi, who is chief marketing officer, will add COO duties.

Rakuten has not announced if it plans to hire a new CEO.

Grover has served in the top post since 2006. He oversaw the growth of Buy.com to estimated sales of $800 million in 2011, according to InternetRetailer.com.

Rakuten Inc. is Japan’s largest Internet service company and operator of online retail marketplaces. It acquired privately-held Buy.com for $250 million in 2010.

Buy offers roughly 14 million products from 7,000 retailers sold through the Buy.com marketplace. It primarily sells computers and consumer electronics.
