Midday Stock Roundup

Major indices were higher in midday trading ahead of a U.S. Federal Reserve Board of Governors meeting today.

The S&P 500 was up 1.2% to 1,976.52. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 1.4% to 16,596.11. The Nasdaq was up 1% to 4,856.22.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was up 3.8% to 2.26%.

The price of gold was down 0.4% to $1,103.

TECHNOLOGY

Newport Beach-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp. was up 5.7% to $4.30 and a $389 million market cap. Rising oil prices drew energy sector stocks higher and focused attention on alternative fuels.
