The S&P 500 was off 0.65% to 1,876.46 in afternoon trading Friday.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.35% to 16,513.95, and the Nasdaq slipped 2.06% to 4,150.31.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was down 2.37% to 2.72%.
The price of gold rose 1.62% to $1,305.20 per ounce.
RESTAURANTS
Huntington Beach-based BJ’s Restaurants Inc. was up about 3% to $32.81, for a market value of $930.29 million after closing down about 3.5% on Thursday. Patrick Walsh, acting on behalf of several investment funds, bought a combined 242,713 BJ’s shares on April 1 and March 22, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
HEALTHCARE
Anaheim-based drugmaker Questcor Pharmaceuticals Inc. was off about 6% to $67.78, for a market value of $3.98 billion. Investor website Seeking Alpha ran a post critical of the company on Friday.
Aliso Viejo-based Avanir Pharmaceuticals Inc. was off about 5% to $3.49 after closing down about 4% on Thursday. The company had a recent market value of $531.51 million.
APPAREL
Huntington Beach-based Quiksilver Inc. shares were trading down about 4% to $7.30, for a market value of $1.24 billion.
