Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 rose 0.29% to 1,850.49 in afternoon trading Wednesday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.30% to 16,228.53, while the Nasdaq was up 0.56% to 4,311.43.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was down 0.52% to 2.69%.

The price of gold was off 1.07% to $1,328.40 per ounce.

REAL ESTATE

Irvine-based real estate data and consulting services provider CoreLogic Inc. was off about 5% to $32.60 for a market value of $3.06 billion. The company reported disappointing results for its fourth quarter.

Homebuilders were generally up on Commerce Department data that showed January home prices up nearly 10%.

Irvine-based TRI Pointe Homes Inc. was up about 6% to $18.33 for a market value of $579.17 million. The homebuilder is expected to report fourth-quarter results on Thursday.

Newport Beach-based William Lyon Homes was up about 3% to $30.48 for a market value of $945.79 million.

Irvine-based Standard Pacific Corp. rose about 5% to $9.07 for a market value of $3.15 billion.

HEALTHCARE

Aliso Viejo-based drug maker Avanir Pharmaceuticals Inc. was up about 8% to $4.16 for a market value of $633.55 million. An analyst at Jefferies LLC maintained a “hold” rating on the company’s stock.
