The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq declined about 0.4% apiece to 3,468.52 and 11,628.05, respectively, during Monday midday trading.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average decreased 0.3% to 28,516.14.
Crude oil ticked 0.3% higher to $41.01 a barrel.
Gold also rose 0.3% to $1,911.40.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury jumped 2.4% to 0.762%.
HEALTHCARE
Lake Forest-based medical device maker Staar Surgical Company (Nasdaq: STAA) led gains for local healthcare firms, seeing an 11% increase to $67.33 and a $3.1 billion market cap, which is the tenth largest among all local public companies. Shares are up nearly 92% since the start of the year.
RESTAURANTS
Shares of Lake Forest-based Del Taco Restaurants Inc. (Nasdaq: TACO) continued to fall on Monday following significant Friday losses, with the price down 3.7% in midday trading to $7.89 and a $292 million market cap. After the restaurant operator reported third-quarter results on Oct. 15, the shares fell 21% as the company declined to reinstate its 2020 forecast. Today’s share decline was the biggest loss among Orange County public restaurants. Del Taco’s shares are still up three-fold since a 52-week low of $2.45 in March.
