The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.4% to 26,922.70, while the Nasdaq increased 1.2% to 10,795.75.
Crude oil fell 0.2% to $40.24.
Gold was off 0.7% to $1,864.10.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury was down 1.8% to 0.65%.
TECHNOLOGY
Skyworks Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: SWKS) rose 2% to $137.96, trading on volume lower than its daily average. The Irvine-based chipmaker, which had a recent market cap of $23 billion, is up 13.2% so far this year.
HEALTHCARE
OC medical device makers were generally up on Friday, with San Clemente-based Glaukos Corp. (NYSE: GKOS) leading with a 2.8% increase to $48.91 for a market cap of $3 billion.
OC’s largest publicly-traded company Edwards Lifesciences (NYSE: EW) increased 2.3% to $76.39. The Irvine heart valve maker had a recent market cap of $47.4 billion. Irvine-based Masimo Corp. (Nasdaq: MASI) rose 1.9% to $221.99 for a market cap of $12.2 billion.
