Major U.S. indexes fell during Friday midday trading led by losses in the tech sector, with the Nasdaq down 1.6% to 10,732.28.
The S&P 500 decreased 1.1% to 3,319.16, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 0.6% to 27,734.36.
Crude oil rose 0.1% to $41 a barrel.
The price of gold increased 0.9% to $1,967.
The yield on a 10-Year bond was up 0.4% to 0.687%.
TECHNOLOGY
Costa Mesa-based Veritone (Nasdaq: VERI) surged 13% to $9.44 and a $261 million market cap during Friday midday trading following strong gains on Thursday, when the company said it was awarded subcontracts under a U.S. Air Force project that will use the company’s aiWARE artificial intelligence operating system to increase the speed and accuracy of overhead imagery analysis.
Irvine-based CalAmp Corp. (Nasdaq: CAMP) was up 1.5% to $8.59 and a $310 million market cap. The technology solutions firm, which provides tracking products for auto fleets company, was recently honored for its Here Comes the Bus school bus tracking solution by Aliso Viejo-based business accelerator OCTANe.
