Midday Stock Roundup

Employers added 1.78 million jobs in July with the unemployment rate falling to 10.2%, the labor department reported Friday.

The S&P 500 fell 0.2% to 3,342.42 in midday trading.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.2% to 27,325.99, while the Nasdaq was off 0.9% to 11,000.65.

Crude oil declined 1.5% to $41.31.

Gold slipped 1.6% to $2,036.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury rose 5.6% to 0.57%.

TECHNOLOGY

Shares of Alteryx Inc. (NYSE: AYX) sank 29% to $119.82, a day after the Irvine data analytics software maker warned of “significant headwinds” to the company’s business in the coming quarters. Alteryx had a recent market cap of $7.9 billion.

RETAIL

Boot Barn Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BOOT) rose 4% to $23.27, continuing a climb from Tuesday when the Irvine-based Western and work wear retailer reported better-than-expected results for its fiscal first quarter ended June 27. Boot Barn, with a market cap of $672 million, is still down 49% from the start of this calendar year.
