The S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average ticked down during midday trading, 0.5% to 2,817.88 and 0.9% to 23,521,01, respectively.
The Nasdaq rose 0.2% to 8,625.50.
The yield on the 10-year bond was down 1.7% to 0.63%.
Crude oil increased 1.7% to $20.11.
Gold was up 0.7% to $1,713.
TECHNOLOGY
Orange County technology firms were among top movers during midday trading, with Costa Mesa-based Veritone Inc. (Nasdaq: VERI) leading gains with a 19% increase in share price to $5.93 and a $161 million market cap. Shares for Veritone, which provides businesses with artificial intelligence technologies, are currently trading at nearly three times their average volume, and have more than doubled since the start of March.
Irvine-based data analytics software provider Alteryx Inc. (NYSE: AYX) rose 5% to $110.75 per share for a market cap of $7.3 billion. The company is expected to report revenue between $105 million and $108 million when it posts first quarter results on May 6, which would be up at least 39% year-over-year. Earnings “are expected to reflect the impact of an expanding clientele, driven by increasing demand for a self-service data science and analytics platform,” according to Zacks Equity Research, which forecasts revenue of $105.8 million.
