The S&P 500 rose 0.8% in midday trading to 2,930.27.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.7% to 26,302.13.
The Nasdaq rose 1.1% to 7,959.65.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was flat at 1.46%.
The price of gold ticked 0.6% higher to $1,566 an ounce.
The price of oil after falling in early trading, was up 5% to $56.58 a barrel.
TECHNOLOGY
TTM Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: TTMI) rose about 3% to $10.80 and a $1.1 billion market cap. Shares in the Santa Ana-based printed circuit board maker declined 30% this past spring after a poorly received quarterly report; a more recent set of numbers have sparked a recovery of about half that drop since mid-summer.
RETAIL
Irvine-based Boot Barn Holdings Inc. (NYSE: BOOT) in Irvine fell 4% to $30.50 and an $869 million market cap. The western wear retailer’s shares have fallen about 14% since Aug. 29; they are still up about 80% year-to-date.
