The S&P 500 rose 1% in midday trading to 2,946.65.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.8% to 26,514.16.
The Nasdaq also climbed by 1.5% to 8,156.74.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was down 0.8% to 2.54%.
The price of gold rose 0.8% to $1,282.
The price of oil was up 0.7% to $62.23 a barrel.
RESTAURANTS
Costa Mesa-based El Pollo Loco Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: LOCO) was down 11% to $11.76 with a market cap of $454 million. The company missed analyst estimates when it reported first quarter earnings and revenue Thursday. Shares of the restaurant chain have declined 21% for the year.
TECHNOLOGY
Shares of Skyworks Solutions Inc. (Nasdaq: SWKS) in Irvine declined 4% to $87.15 with a market cap of $15 billion after missing Wall Street’s expectations for fiscal second quarter revenue. The chipmaker, whose biggest customer is Apple, reported headwinds to its mobile business.
