The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq were both flat during midday trading at 2,905.12 and 8,000.73, respectively, while the Dow Jones dipped 0.2% to 26,513.72.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury was up 1% to 2.56%.
The price of gold increased 0. 1% to $1,276.
The price of oil climbed 2.8% to $65.79 a barrel.
HEALTHCARE
Irvine’s HCP Inc. (NYSE: HCP) was down 2.7% to $29.02 and a $14 billion market cap. It was the largest decline out of the three Orange County healthcare-related investors. HCP is scheduled to report first quarter earnings on May 1. The FTSE NAREIT Equity Health Care Index also declined 0.7% today to 270.41
TECHNOLOGY
Lantronix Inc. (Nasdaq: LTRX) in Irvine rose 16% to $4.20, its highest point this year, and a $93 million market cap. Volume of 281,680 shares was more than double the daily average. Shares have jumped 60% since March 25 when it announced the appointment of Paul Pickle as chief executive. Pickle, who previously was chief operating officer at Microsemi Corp., started today. The networking products maker is scheduled to report fiscal third quarter results on April 25.
