The S&P 500 was 0.9% higher to 2,665.06; the Dow Jones Industrial Average 0.6% to 24,611.64; the Nasdaq 1.5% to 7,015.89.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond rose 0.9% to 3.07%.
The price of gold was 0.5% higher at $1,227.
HEALTHCARE
Glaukos Corp. (NYSE: GKOS) in San Clemente was up 3.2% to $57.08 and a $2.1 billion market cap. Shares in the glaucoma treatment device maker are up about 50% since August and about 120% higher year-to-date.
REAL ESTATE
Five Point Holdings LLC (NYSE: FPH) in Aliso Viejo climbed 3.9% to $7.43 and a $1.1 billion market cap. The land developer has projects at the Great Park in Irvine, in northern Los Angeles County and in Northern California.
