Midday Stock Roundup

The S&P 500 declined 0.8% in midday trading to 2,684.64.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.5% to 24,854.19.

The Nasdaq was down 0.9% to 7,253.09.

The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond dropped 1.7% to 3.08%.

The price of gold was up 0.06% to $1,239.

RESTAURANTS

Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (NYSE: CMG) in Newport Beach was up 3% to $434.69 and a market cap of $12 billion. The fast casual chain’s yesterday reported third quarter profit that topped the consensus estimate of analysts. It reported same store sales rose 4.4% and digital sales grew 48% in the quarter.

RETAIL

Irvine-based retailer Boot Barn Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: BOOT) was down 9% to $25.61 and a $722 million market cap. The company yesterday reported second quarter sales and profit that beat analyst expectations. The shares are still up three fold in the past year.
