First Commercial Case Completed Using ViaLase Laser System

Image-guided, noninvasive treatment for open-angle glaucoma

ViaLase Inc., an Aliso Viejo-based clinical-stage medtech company, today announced the completion of the first commercial procedures using its noninvasive laser treatment for open-angle glaucoma.

ViaLase Chief Commercial Officer Pete England said, “This marks an important milestone for ViaLase” as the company begins global commercialization of FLIGHT (femtosecond laser image-guided high-precision trabeculotomy).

The procedures were performed at Centre for Sight in London and Breyer, Kaymak & Klabe Augenchirurgie in Germany.

ViaLase received CE Mark approval for the ViaLuxe Laser System, which emits short pulses of light to create new drainage channels without any incisions in the eye, in 2024.

The company’s initial European launch is supported through a network of distribution partners, including an exclusive distribution agreement with Carleton Optical in the United Kingdom.
