The S&P 500 rose 0.1% in midday trading to 2,563.06.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which yesterday topped 23,000 in intraday trading for the first time, was up 0.7% to 23,155.56.
The NASDAQ ticked up 0.1% to 6,631.78.
The yield on a 10-year Treasury bond was up 1.7% to 2.34%.
The price of gold was down 0.3% to $1,283.
HEALTHCARE
Spectrum Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: SPPI) was up 48% to $21.34 and a $2 billion market cap. It said a clinical trial of an in-development drug treatment for lung cancer showed positive results. Shares by midday had traded at a rate 11 times Spectrum’s 90-day average.
RETAIL
Tilly’s Inc. (NYSE: TLYS) in Irvine was up 3.3% to $12.47 and a $360 million market cap on moderate volume. Tilly’s runs a chain of youth fashion stores.
