As part of The Resort at Pelican Hill’s transition to the St. Regis brand, the Newport Coast hotel will be the first property in a new luxury portfolio known as St. Regis Estates.
A sitewide renovation is underway at the 500-acre resort as part of the rebrand with updates planned for the golf courses, villas and bungalows, pools, clubhouses, the spa, restaurants and public spaces. By 2027, it will be called The Resort at Pelican Hill, a St. Regis Estate.
The new St. Regis Estates portfolio was inspired by the brand’s founding family, the Astors, according to Senior Vice President & Global Brand Leader George Fleck. The included properties will be “legacy-rich, leisure-led estates – rarified hotels defined by significant history, expansive grounds, and extraordinary amenities,” St. Regis said in a statement.
As the inaugural St. Regis Estate, The Resort at Pelican Hill will add amenities such as a butler service, afternoon tea and sabrage (the opening of a champagne bottle with a saber).
“We are proud that Pelican Hill will set the tone for the Estates collection, each hotel distinct in its history yet united by the same spirit of elegance, warmth, and care,” General Manager Kevin Kelly said.
The Resort at Pelican Hill last month named Shannon Gilbert as its new general manager.
Marriott International Inc. took over as The Resort’s new management company from the Irvine Company in 2024. It opened in 2008 and gained a five-diamond rating the next year.
